What does a pharmacist working in dermatological science contribute?
A pharmacist brings medication, formulation, evidence, safety, access, and patient-care knowledge into the dermatological context. The exact contribution changes by role: optimizing treatment, educating about a biologic, interpreting safety signals, planning a clinical trial, reviewing claims, collaborating on a topical formulation, improving access, or translating evidence for patients and professionals.
A focused area, not one universal credential: dermatological-science pharmacy describes a body of work or expertise. A PharmD alone does not authorize diagnosis or aesthetic procedures, and requirements vary by role and jurisdiction.

Topic of PhASEd
A current-topic stream for significant or emerging news, research, regulation, products, professional developments, and conversations within dermatological sciences.
What it is for
Use TOP to quickly identify and share something timely that members should know, question, or discuss. It creates awareness and conversation without requiring a complete lecture or curriculum sequence.
Example
A member posts a short, sourced update about a new FDA sunscreen action, explains why it matters to pharmacy students, and adds two questions for the next meeting.
TOP 001 · Regulatory update
FDA adds bemotrizinol as a permitted OTC sunscreen active ingredient
The FDA added bemotrizinol to the OTC sunscreen monograph at concentrations up to 6%. The agency describes it as providing UVA and UVB protection and as generally recognized as safe and effective for adults and children 6 months of age and older. It is the first new active added to the monograph since the late 1990s.
Why it matters
The action expands the ingredients that may be used in compliant U.S. OTC sunscreen products and demonstrates the administrative-order pathway created under the CARES Act.
Important distinction
Adding an active ingredient to the monograph establishes permitted conditions for eligible products. It does not mean every future bemotrizinol sunscreen has identical effectiveness, feel, stability, or finished-product evidence.

Program 02 · PSS
PhASEd Seminar Series
PSS stores reviewed curriculum outlines showing sequence, learning direction, objectives, source foundations, and planned points of application. A chapter may organize its series using the curriculum model that best fits its learners and school.
What it is for
Use PSS to map what students should learn across a semester and how concepts build, repeat, deepen, and move into application. Modules may include short instruction, an SDP guest speaker, a case study, a workshop, or a collaboration and outreach activity.
URI implementation example
PhASEd at URI uses a concentric and spiralized structure: barrier foundations are revisited and expanded through scalp, hair, nail, systemic, formulation, regulatory, case, workshop, and seasonal application modules. Selected weeks may also produce material for education with another organization.

1. Information we collect
Information you provide. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, school or chapter, organization, audience, request type, preferred date, time or location, and the message or program details you choose to send.
Basic website and service information. Netlify hosts this site and processes its forms. Like most hosting providers, it may process technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request data, and security logs to deliver and protect the service.
2. How we use information
PhASEd uses submitted information to route and respond to inquiries, coordinate programs or collaborations, support membership and chapter development, maintain appropriate organizational records, protect the website, and meet applicable university, organizational, or legal responsibilities.
PhASEd does not sell form submissions, use them for targeted advertising, or use submitted content to train artificial-intelligence models.
3. Who may receive information
Information may be viewed by authorized PhASEd leaders whose role relates to the request. Netlify processes and stores submissions as the website hosting and form service. Other service providers may receive only the information reasonably needed to support an approved request or organizational operation.
PhASEd does not publish a submission or the submitter's personal information without separate permission, except where disclosure is required by law or necessary to address security or misuse.
4. Retention, correction, and deletion
Submissions are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage the relationship, maintain legitimate organizational records, or satisfy applicable obligations. Stored submissions should be reviewed periodically and removed when they are no longer needed.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you submitted. PhASEd may need to verify the request and may retain a record where a valid organizational, university, security, or legal requirement applies.
5. Cookies, tracking, and security
PhASEd currently does not use advertising pixels, targeted advertising, or nonessential behavioral analytics on this site. For that reason, the site does not currently display a cookie-consent banner. The hosting platform may use essential security or routing technologies needed to operate and protect the site. If PhASEd adds nonessential tracking in the future, this notice and any required consent controls should be updated first.
PhASEd uses reasonable safeguards such as HTTPS, browser security headers, limited role-based access, and human review of submissions. No online system can guarantee absolute security, so users should submit only the information needed for the request.
6. Children, external links, and changes
This site is intended for pharmacy students, educators, professionals, organizations, and adult members of the public. It is not directed to children under 13, and PhASEd does not knowingly collect their personal information.
The site links to external organizations and publications. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. PhASEd may update this notice as the website, forms, or services change; the revised effective date will appear at the top.

1. Acceptance, purpose, and user responsibility
By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site or submit its forms. These terms do not override applicable law, university requirements, chapter agreements, Society of Dermatology Pharmacists policies, or professional standards.
Users are responsible for applying appropriate education, licensure, scope-of-practice rules, institutional policy, and independent professional judgment. Verify current official labels, primary sources, laws, and clinical guidance before relying on educational content.
2. EDOUARD and evidence resources
EDOUARD is a conceptual product-fit assessment and learning tool. It assumes that self-care eligibility and prerequisite clinical considerations have already been assessed by an appropriately trained person. It is not a self-care eligibility test or an automated recommendation.
Ingredient-level evidence does not prove that a finished cosmetic product will perform the same way. Formulation, concentration, vehicle, packaging, use pattern, population, and finished-product testing all affect transferability. Evidence libraries may be incomplete, under review, or updated over time.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use the site unlawfully; impersonate another person or organization; submit malicious, deceptive, or unauthorized requests; interfere with site security or availability; attempt unauthorized account access; or use automated activity that unreasonably burdens the service.
Do not submit patient information, confidential records, passwords, financial information, proprietary materials you lack permission to share, or content that violates another person's rights.
4. Intellectual property and submissions
Unless otherwise identified, PhASEd's original writing, frameworks, graphics, branding, and site design are protected content. Personal, noncommercial educational reference with clear attribution is permitted.
